In the Serenissima Republic of Venice, the greatest honor for a citizen consisted in the permission granted to the families of the "glass masters" to take a Venetian of noble blood as a wife. In 1605 the list of Muranese families originating from the island was established, which were included in the Golden Book. Those who did not have their name registered in that book could not enter the councils, cover any office, manufacture or work in glass factories, mint coins with their own name or enjoy the ample concessions enjoyed by the citizen of Murano. In 1689 the ZECCHIN family (whose origin of the name derives from pure gold) was fully registered in the Golden Book. The colors of the items in the Venetia Collection may have small differences to guarantee the uniqueness of the product's craftsmanship.
